The Chevron Business Support Center (BASSC) located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero), Argentina, is accepting online applications for the position Network Engineer. Successful candidates will join the Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure organization which is part of a successful multifunction service center with a workforce of more than 700 employees delivering business services and solutions across the globe.

We are looking for a motivated and skilled person to become a member of the IT Foundation Platform (ITFP) for the Connectivity Team in the Network Product Line (NPL). The team is responsible for all of Chevron’s external connection services, platforms, and technologies.

In this role, you will design, develop, implement, and optimize the network connectivity solutions to ensure continuous availability of secured and reliable network services. As a key component of the central IT function within Chevron’s CTC (Chevron Technology Center), the Connectivity team has responsibility for the core business network, platforms, tools, and services that provide efficient and reliable connections to the Business across every Chevron business unit.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Leverage available technologies to enhance and optimize the network infrastructure.
  • Support the Product line based on the business needs (innovation).
  • Identify, scope, develop, and implement operation automation.
  • Support new project deployments, as well as the life-cycling of network infrastructure, platforms, and applications (technology roadmap).
  • Responsible for provisioning WAN circuits, doing equipment refresh using remote resources (smart-hands or field technicians).
  • Design and implement WAN sites on the Chevron carrier MPLS backbone and Point to Point links.
  • Provide design guidance for large scale Core Network designs and smaller, but complex remote LAN/WAN designs.
  • Act as technical lead on projects when assigned.
  • Support escalation-level operations issues when required.
  • Mentor and assist other team members to ensure cross-training and overall organizational capability.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Skilled networking knowledge. CCNP or equivalent skill set.
  • Skills and demonstrated experience administering networks (WAN and LAN) and experience troubleshooting network environments.
  • Familiar with Juniper Networks technologies (Juniper equipment and Junos Space tools).
  • Hands-on experience with TCP/IP stack, network routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS), virtual routing and forwarding (VRF), Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).
  • Minimum of 3 years of IT experience in an enterprise-class environment design in large Complex WANs, or large campus LAN.
  • Experience providing design, testing and implementation support for and participation in internally driven platform deployment or lifecycle projects, and/or customer-facing projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to document the infrastructure.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (desirable):

  • 2-year Associates degree or higher, in technology or a related business discipline.
  • Related Networking certification(s) or other related vendor or IT certifications.
  • Familiar with scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible, bash, python).
  • Basic understanding in cloud technologies (private, public and hybrid environment).
